I regularly speak and teach at industry conferences, association events, and private trainings across the construction industry.
If you’re attending one of the events below, I’d love to connect while I’m there.
Delays are one of the most common — and most misunderstood — sources of disputes on construction projects. In this session, participants will review real delay provisions from actual construction subcontracts to understand how notice requirements, documentation rules, and waiver language affect their ability to recover time or money. The training focuses on identifying risky language, understanding what is reasonable versus aggressive, and learning how early communication can prevent delay issues from escalating into denied claims.

I'm honored to join Elizabeth Allen, VDC/BIM Manager for Collins Electric Company, Inc. for this empowering mixer. Elizabeth and I will share a bit about our journeys and the challenges that women face everyday.

Project Success with AI Driven Document Intelligence
I join industry powerhouses, Ken Fredrickson, Joe Siewell, and Maegan Spivey for this powerful breakout session.
Complex projects generate large volumes of interrelated documentation. Reviews can miss critical issues such as obsolete standards, irrelevant cross references, missing sections, one sided clauses, and drawing note conflicts. AI tools are available now that allow rapid contract and specification reviews that highlight inconsistencies and procedural requirements, provide checklists of submittals and coordination between documents, and can be used by all to ensure that documents are consistent, and work is compliant. Field reporting tools are becoming better at reducing the time and effort needed to record field activity accurately and completely – allowing real-time audio and photo capture and virtually eliminating evenings spent “writing things up”. An effective professional needs to embrace tools that reduce workload but increase accuracy and preserve critical information. This discussion will address how these tools have been incorporated into several projects to deal with very real challenges. The session emphasizes repeatable methods that shorten review time, improve compliance, and prevent claims. This interactive panel shows how leaders are using AI to transform document review from a reactive task into a predictive control tool that promotes better decisions earlier with clear documentation that stands up to scrutiny.

Dispute resolution clauses shape how conflicts are handled long before a dispute ever arises. In this session, participants will analyze real subcontract dispute resolution provisions to understand how escalation requirements, forum selection, attorneys’ fees, and timing rules impact leverage and outcomes. The focus is on recognizing provisions that limit options, identifying red flags, and understanding which terms matter most when negotiating contracts before problems occur.

Termination provisions carry significant financial risk but are often overlooked during contract review. In this session, participants will walk through real termination for convenience and termination for default clauses from construction subcontracts to understand how these provisions actually operate in practice. The training highlights common assumptions that don’t hold up, explains what compensation may be available, and identifies contract language that should be addressed up front to reduce exposure if a project ends early.

Indemnity provisions play a major role in how risk is allocated on construction projects. In this session, participants will review real indemnity clauses from a variety of construction subcontracts to see how responsibility is shifted, expanded, or combined with insurance obligations. The discussion focuses on identifying overbroad language, understanding how indemnity interacts with insurance coverage, and recognizing which provisions warrant closer scrutiny during contract negotiations.

Now in its third year, this is my annual flagship industry event.
This is not just another conference. Converge is a curated annual summit for the doers, fixers, thinkers, and builders shaping the future of construction. Whether you're working in the industry or serving it from the outside, Converge is for you.
In the words of Anthony Bourdain:
“Chicago is a town, a city that doesn't ever have to measure itself against any other city. Other places have to measure themselves against it. It's big, it's outgoing, it's tough, it's opinionated, and everybody's got a story.”
That’s the energy of Converge and the people who attend it.
Big. Outgoing. Tough. Opinionated. Everyone’s got a story and they’re not afraid to tell it like it is.
We call them Convergers, and this event was built for them.
Here, titles matter less than intention. We bring together contractors, consultants, creatives, tech founders, advisors, and entrepreneurs who care about one thing: building something meaningful—together.
🟢 Learn through conversations, not just presentations.
Whether it’s on stage or around the table, every session is designed to spark honest dialogue and practical takeaways.
🟢 Build real relationships, not just exchange business cards.
This isn’t networking. It’s a place to find your people. . .the ones who challenge you, cheer for you, and collaborate with you.
🟢 Co-create the future of construction across roles, disciplines, and perspectives.
Whether you wear boots or build software, you belong here.
🟢 Step into a room where everyone wants to make things better, and is willing to show their cards.
The ego gets left at the door. The good stuff happens when you show up for real.
This isn't another cattle-call conference. Converge is built for high-trust conversations, curated sessions, and the kind of collisions that turn into collaborations, no matter how big the room gets.
If you’re ready to trade small talk for big progress, Converge is where it starts.

Liquidated damages provisions can have a significant financial impact, yet they are often accepted without careful review. In this session, participants will examine real liquidated damages clauses to understand how they are structured, when they apply, and how they interact with delay provisions. The training helps attendees identify problematic language, understand common defenses, and recognize opportunities to address liquidated damages during contract negotiation rather than after a dispute arises.
